My resin story
Welcome to Ocean Boards by Eveline.
I am Eveline, a one woman show (😁). I am located in beautiful (spectacular) St. Andrews by-the-Sea, New Brunswick. For anyone who doesn’t know, this fabulous small town is located in southern New Brunswick, Canada, on the Bay of Fundy. It is home to some of the highest tides in the world.
I feel very lucky to have gained from our imposed break in the spring of 2020. For me, it was unprecedented precious free time to explore medias in new ways. What else was there to do? Kids are grown, list of things to do was checked off, and my craft room had some supplies (including ink and resin). But really, it all began long before the pandemic.
In 1996, I was travelling the country in my VW van and was constantly trying to find ways to earn money to pay for gas and continue travelling. While in Dawson City, Yukon, I started exploring with resin (yes! In my van! It was messy!). I made Smarties, coffee beans and sunflower seeds barrettes dipped in resin.
Fast forward to 2019, I started playing with new mediums, especially inks, and finished some of my ink flowers with resin. Having internet, time, ink and resin on hand during the pandemic lockdown, I started making these “oh sooo fascinating” resin petri dishes. These are mesmerizing to make!!!! This is where I really started to love and enjoy playing with resin.
I’m not sure when or where I saw my first resin ocean seascape (I didn’t invent it), but since I had all this free time, I gave it a whirl. It was a steep learning curve but the results were so satisfying! With time (I had it), patience (don’t always have it) and the right chemistry (this can be tricky!), the magical oceans appeared with different shapes and movements… like the real ocean. I was hooked!
Having spent (WAY!) too much money for my own enjoyment, I decided to bring a few boards to display at my booth at the St. Andrews’ Farmers’ Market (where I had my “Aveline table since 2009). I was hoping to sell a few boards and pay back some of my expenses. This turned into a big success!
I then opened a FaceBook page for the 2020 holiday season and the demand and comments were heart warming.
So here I am! I have since launched a website, quit my job, built a studio and am now full time at it. I am working toward growing my customer base across the country and around the world! This new adventure has proven to be completly crazy, but so exciting!!
Thank you everyone for your ongoing support and beautiful comments!
Let’s see where this ocean goes!!!

Thank you Jeff!
Back playing with resin 24 years later, this time to protect my ink flowers.
Large resin petri dish... So much fun to create!
All this lead me to my Ocean Boards!!
